Gravity Works
The Gravity Works name comes from the usefulness of the concept of gravity as a metaphor in coaching. Gravity is a force of nature that acts consistently on us regardless of where we are. There may be times when we find ourselves in a jam in the physical world where we are literally stuck. As we try to get out of our jam, we may find that gravity is working against us. Thinking about the predicament, we may find ways of having gravity work for us instead of against us, ultimately helping us get out of the jam.
Similarly, business leaders often find themselves in situations where they are grappling with large forces that they cannot change – e.g. competitive pressures, market demands and/or employee preferences. Coaching can help clients identify these forces. Further, coaching can help clients find innovative ways of making these forces allies rather than adversaries.
