Career coaching

Career Coaching is ideal for clients that are contemplating, or in the midst of, career transitions. Working with clients that often find themselves at a plateau in their careers, we help these clients assess their strengths, interests and needs so that they can develop and execute action plans to realize their goals.

Our clients are usually director or VP-level individuals that seek to find the next step in their career progression. Often, they seek work that is more meaningful and/or fulfilling. Most clients also seek to adjust their work/life balance as they move forward in their careers.

The path that these coaching engagements take varies on the individual, but usually runs along the lines of:

  • Goal setting – what is it that you want? How specific can you be about it? What is the stretch for you in this goal? By when do you want to achieve it? How will you measure your success? How important is it for you to achieve it?
  • Reality check – do any laws of physics need to be bent for you to achieve your goals? What elements of your goals are in your control and what elements are not?
  • Action planning – What steps do you need to take to reach your goal? What obstacles might you encounter and how might you overcome them? What will you do today?
  • Execution – How is your work tracking against your plan? What have you learned? What is your commitment level now to reach your goals? What adjustments need to be made?
  • Celebration – What have you learned along the path to your goals?  What went really well?  What might you do differently next time?

So what's the secret sauce? This sounds simple – so why do I need a coach? Not everyone needs a formal coach. Some are fortunate enough to get coaching from friends, family, colleagues and mentors. These people can help provide the support and direction that an individual needs to achieve their goals.

A coach that is outside of this circle of friends and family, however can provide 1) a formal, structured approach to achieving goals, 2) a new, outside perspective to the current situation and 3) unbiased support to the client in following through to meet their goals.
